Getting Rid Of The Hicas Light + Freeing Up Engine Bay Space

When I did my subframe swap back in the fall I did a the full removal of the hicas rear wheel steering system on my R32. The one thing I didn't do was get rid of the Hicas light which was probably one of the simplest things I've done to my car. This way you still get use of the hicas light if there's something wrong like if your power steering fluid is low or any other issues with the steering.

So how to do this is to go in the trunk under the parcel shelf, it's on the right side from center.
There's 3, 10mm bolts holding the hicas computer in -
Once you get that out you can just unplug the smaller of the two plug and simply put it back and there is now no hicas warning lit up. Yay no dash lights!

I also decided to remove the charcoal canister on my RB20DE as it just sits there and really doesn't do much, I live in Alberta and there is no emissions testing so I don't have to worry about that. It really didn't save that much weight but it did spare some more space, an ideal place for an oil catch can.

This is a super simple quick removal to do, first thing is to remove all vacuum lines, trace them back to the manifold, one going to the back of the intake near the firewall and the other going to the bottom of the throttle body, plug and block those off so you still have the proper vacuum so your car doesn't run terrible after this is all done.

Now you can remove the canister, to get that canister out there's one 10mm clamp holding it in. Now that that's out of the way you can get the 3 10mm bolts holding the bracket in place, one on the right side of the bracket looking at it and the two in place that were under the canister. The hardline that was connected underneath needs to be vented to atmosphere as that's the vent for the fuel tank, some people trace that back along the firewall and cut it down and vent it out under the car. I didn't do that when i did this but i do plan to in the future to clean some more lines up. And that's as simple as it is, took only a few minutes and freed up some space in the engine bay.

Also got rid of that stock airbox last week finally and got a quality K&N washable filter, much nicer, just need to make a nice heat shield for it and get a new hose clamp.. as nice as that ziptie is.
